Yes.
Becuase it's classic. And quite frankly, It's the only game of it's kind. It was the first game of it's kind.
Half Life just like all of the other shooters.
OOHHH LOOK,  A PHYSICS ENGINE.
I don't care. I like my good old classic hero.

its not the only game, its pretty much a generic sidescroller
But correct you are, when you say it STARTED the sidescrolling epicness.

You seem to have forgotten the awesome graphics, amazing cutscene tech, the ability to fight with physics, and all of that.

There was no amazing cutscene tech in HL2, it was just you being restricted of movement and the HUD being turned off, graphics weren't really that awesome either.

I honestly thought that they were pretty damn good for a 2004 game

I'm pretty sure you can't see people's awesome animation, and face posing.
Half Life 2:

Battlefield Vietnam:
Note the differences in graphics, I know this isn't a great comparison, but I couldn't find any other comparable games.

Marcem, HL2 never had a cutscene, your hud was removed and you had restrictions on movement and that person who was playing BF:V had there detail on low.

Wow, way to get a SS of a game that was being played on low details.

I'm pretty sure that, Halo 2, and Metal Gear Solid 2 were out at that time and both had great graphics.

And the voice commands are in Spanish.

Re-voted for Freeman. Just because I like watching Nintendo fanboys rage and cry because they don't know who Gordon Freeman is and because they say everyone is cheating.

HL2 is almost 5 years old. The graphics aren't that good compared to some recent games.

A game from 5 years ago can't compete with new technology? How is this possible?!?

Half Life 2 really got me into PC gaming. I've played a lot of FPS since then, but HL2 is still one of m favorite games. Also, the recent Mario games have been really disappointing. After Mario 64, the console Mario games all worked the same way and just added some new thing like a spray thing or running around planets. I'm tired of jumping through portals to get to levels.

I thought Galaxy was pretty fun :/

:D

I also hate going through levels over and over again for loving stars. Which is in 64, Sunshine and Galaxy. I've always wanted to see the linear levels of the old games re-made into 3D.
