My Xbox Harddrive formatted itself

I was at a friend's house using his xbox and had his harddrive swapped with mine. I decided I would put in Far Cry 2 cuz I hadn't played it in forever and the Xbox froze. We both wtf'd and I restarted it. Upon it starting again, it read no profiles and the harddrive showed up as "Unformatted." So my stuff is gone now.

mine doesn't like to save my call of duty progress, everytime i beat it it doesn't save it.

I'm strangely ok with it though, because most of the games I don't feel like starting over I can just sell due to the stuffstorm of good games coming out soon.

Never had any problems like this with my Harddrive and Xbox360.

By all means you shouldn't worry about it happening to you, but I would love to know what caused mine to do it.
