Author Topic: Slightly more elaborate Activate animation  (Read 748 times)

Would it be possible to make an add-on that would change the activation, that is, when someone clicks something, to something else? Maybe something more elaborate? I'd love to have one where the hand comes up such that the index finger kind of pushes the area where the crosshair is.

This sounds complicated to me, but I don't know what I'm talking about, so I'll let the experts come in and give their opinions.

EDIT: It would be nice if it showed up in first-person as well.

Maybe as an item that hides the player's hand and has its own animation, but I don't think anyone besides Badspot could change that for the default player.

Pretty much this.

I could make a Item that has such animation.
And it's just a activate.

wouldn't this be script instead of and add-on...wait...oh, an addon that is a script

ontopic: would it be easier as a no-hand player?

Yesplease

Yeah, animations are within the model so you'd have to either remodel the default player or just hide their hand.

Whoever makes this, I highly suggest it checks their avatar prefs and sets their right hand color as an argument. Also check whether or not they have a hook. If you made the model white you could just setshiftcolor with the argument and vuala, you have yourself a hand that changes colors according to their real hand.

Unless it was re-added, you cannot change colors of datablocks on the fly. This is why we have so many datablocks for paint cans, and was one of the problems TDM ran into with flag colors.

This might be one of the least important things for Badspot to spend his time doing that I've ever heard.

Come on guys i like the idea, i'm for it.

Color-shifting on the go would be very useful. Would give so many more possibilities with different part animations that match current avatar prefs.

I like the way it is because it is universal.

A poking finger would not work for things that open doors etc.

That is actually a good point.

This is true, and why I wanted it as some form of add-on.
