Author Topic: There Is No God  (Read 11102 times)

Throughout human history we have tried to explain things. We hunger for answers, and in our quest for knowledge we try to fill in te blanks sometimes. Back when the Greeks were around, no one knew why lightning struck or why the sea could be calm or violent. Without any way to understand these powerful, natural events they tried to explain it using themselves. People started telling stories of powerful beings that looked like humans but had divine powers. Soon they felt like they understood everything and it became common knowledge that Zeus created lighting or Poseidon controlled the ocean. They had used the one thing they undestood the most (humans) to understand everything else. Today, we know this isn't true because we have used science to understand how it really works. Religions like Christianity try to explain what happens after we die and how we were created but it's stupid to turn to our ancestors for questions that require modern science. Even though  humankind can now figure out the answer to almost any question, we still hold on to our old religions. We live in an age of understanding and communication where we don't need to guess. Our instinct trys to lead us down a path of lies and misconception and we follow it like confused children. People want to think that life is about making the best choice when it's really about making the best out of what you didn't choose. Before there were even mammals on the earth, the first oranisms were learning and adapting. Instincts like fearing death or trying to find food became hard-wired into us and slowly we evolved into what we are now. It's scary to think of how lonely and short our lives are, but in the end we just have to try our best because being human is about learning and living and we don't have to answer every question right now. After all, the greatest life is one that ends.

(Sorry for any mistakes, I typed all of this on my DSi :D)

Asking for a religion war...

ur cool

After all, the greatest life is one that ends.

I MUST DISAGREE.

Asking for a religion war...

ur cool

QFT.

I agree, religion is a load of bullstuff trying to provide cheesy answers for humanity, but I wouldn't post about it.

The reason we say that is because its something to follow, enlighten our lives. See if I were to say Zeus is who we worship, and if I was a general thought to be blessed by the gods it would give my troops belief that Zeus was helping us and he would give us strength. And if they were to believe that they would fight harder for the God and general.

I don't believe in any kind of god, but really, you're no better than the biblethumpers trying to force their religion onto you.

forget off.

Both you and religious fights are stupid.

As a Christian, I have to disagree but I think the last thing we need is warring over religion or lack thereof. Respect goes a long way no matter what you believe.

If I may add, atheism and Christianity should leave each other alone.  Please, no more religous debates.

You've got to be stuffting me.

Everyone has their own beliefs.

Everyone who was thinking of making posts to counter what he's saying, don't. We don't need YET ANOTHER religion war.

Block Builder, keep those thoughts to yourself.

Where's that little speech I did on religion... I'm just gonna go dig that up.

As a Roman Catholic, I'm offended at your attempts to simply tell me and other Catholics and Christians, as well as any other religion that we are wrong. I leave atheists alone but when they go offensive I can't do anything but think they are intolerant idiots. Stop making other atheists look bad and stop attacking religious people.
