Author Topic: RTB Gallery System  (Read 3036 times)

It'd be cool if RTB had an advanced clan system.
I might then actually consider joining a clan.
You realise that is a listed feature right? It's coming after the gallery system.

Well, I sure feel like an idiot.

New category suggestion :

Sci-fi

and

space tech.

At least it's not a direct copy of what I did.
Your screenshots involve a save, mine don't.

I also love how you always copy what I do.
Not everyone knows what you do.
I didn't even know you had a gallery thing.
But I guess other games had lighting first. Blockland totally copied.
What I'm saying is, who wouldn't think to have a gallery option?
Another thing, why do you care?

Between the ID list(not the idea of an ID list) and the gallery, Ephialtes just copies stuff I do.

Because you've never copied something I've done.

I think what we need is a multi-category system. Like we would have types and styles. Types would be stuff like Terrain, RPG, DM, etc. Styles would be the things like Medieval, City, Sc-fi, etc. Then we have many more categories without have a long list, so things like "City DM" and "Medieval RPG" work.

Shotgun?
Mod manager?
IRC (don't say stuff this has been around since v1.04 or something)
And Ephi has planned for a gallery long back. But I suppose you just need to throw stuff at every part of Ephi you see.

One thing you do that he doesn't is that you constantly whine about what he does.
"EPHI COPIES ME"
"EPHI BANNED ME"

Even after being banned Kalphiter seems to like to hang out in RTB topics and make pointless remarks.

He is an autistic troll, please ignore him because he only serves to disrupt threads.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback on the groups. I'll be making sure this ties quite neatly into the upcoming Clan Manager too so all clan members get correct recognition etc.

I'll also be looking at this Featured Build idea. It'll need a fair bit of thought as to how the mechanics work (how many ratings etc. and how long it's shown) and some way to prevent the same ones being shown over and over or something. Any ideas for this?

Not sure how the ratings should go, but maybe have a history page to show all the ones that were already shown?

Why not instead of categories you select tags, then you can view all builds with certain tags.

Sounds like a good idea, although categories would still be good for general browsing. I'll do a mix of the two like in WordPress where you choose a category for your article and give it a bunch of tags too.

Essentially the tag system would allow users to define their own categories so you could have a tag like "Sci-fi" and other people could tag their sci-fi builds with that, and you'd have a Sci-fi category right there.

What about "Sci-Fi", "Sci Fi", and "Science Fiction"? How do you handle people who use separate tags, causing people to have to search for all 3?

Only being allowed to use preset tags?

I think there is such diversity between builds that it'd be quite hard to define a set of "allowed tags" without people constantly requesting new ones.

What I will do is create a tool for moderators to map certain tags to other tags. So if we had people creating "Sci-Fi" and "Science Fiction" tags they could create a rule to force all Science Fiction tags to become "Sci-Fi" which would pretty much solve that issue.
