Author Topic: NEW toggle crosshair in 3rd person  (Read 1483 times)

IT WOULD BE SO AWESOME IF YOU COULD MAKE A CROSSHAIR FOR PLAYING IN 3RD PERSON!!! I'm really tired of playing the games in 1st person just so I could see were I shoot people so it would be really awesome if you made a toggle crosshair option for 3rd person.

The problem with third person is that the camera is tilted. Your bullets wouldn't go where the crosshair is pointing.

Could it be possible to adjust the crosshair to point there?

I mean like maybe change the 3rd person view so you could make it have a crosshair. Cuz it would be REALLY awesome.

Nah, the idia seems pritty bad.

well you should atleast consider it and make it optional to have it on

Sir, you don't get it. In 3rd person shooters, the camera is always fixed (i.e. Halo 3, with the flamethrower), or you are always looking at it from just behind the player (i.e. Halo 3, with the minigun turrets). Try to listen to people who actually know more than you do.

Could it be possible to adjust the crosshair to point there?
It doesn't matter where you adjust the crosshair to. It will only be in the right place at one distance.
Think of two lines, one is on an angle. The one going straight is the line of sight of the player's shooting vector, and the other one is the line of sight of the crosshair in the middle of the screen. They will only ever cross at one point.

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up, Chrono.

ok. If you think it won't work then its ok. I just imagined it that It might work out... And I never played halo before... ITS ALL ABOUT RESISTANCE!!!XDDD

Well in some games (like C&C Renegade), the crosshair is placed at a point based on a 3d raycast. However, this would only be efficient if done on the engine and not by script.

what about rot's old survivor player, i think if you adjust the camera a little to more behind the weapon, you could have a better angle at where you're shooting?

Why don't you just do the same thing that the bullets do when you change distance of the thing your shooting at where it automatically changes that crossing point to the exact end to hit the target correctly where the crosshair is?

Only on the Y axis instead of the X where the bullet goes sideways from the barrel of your gun.

I've always wanted a crosshair that pointed to the back of my player's head!
