Always hated those. Have you tried using the Burst Shotgun? If you aim for the head they should go down fast.

Dang, I got stuck. How do you escape from the airship? I try to make it to the bay but the turret always gets me.

You have to jump out the empty escape pod tube and use your parachute.

In the level where you go down in the pods, how do you get down without the sprouters getting you? They always send their little tubes in my pod while I'm still in space, and I die...
