Author Topic: ArmA: Armed Assault  (Read 1031 times)

Get it, seriously. It's a great war simulation, besides the fact that the voice acting sucks. Yes, I know ArmA 2 is better, but this one is the only one my computer could handle. You could fly aircraft, drive tanks, even be a civilian spectating a giant war going on in the city. The landscape is... loving immense to say the least. It has mountains, forests, deserts, cities, etc. It's awesome. It's called ArmA: Combat Operations on steam for some strange loving reason, and it's about $20. If any of you already have it, or plan on getting it, add me on steam shinji127.

Just a note: This isn't one of those shooters where you run around and get shot 50 times but live. This is realistic, you have a small chance of surviving gunshots, but you might bleed to death.

Number 2 is what Arma 1 should of been. Arma 2 is the only type of FPS I actually like any more, I'm so sick of TDM generic, 50 hits etc like you said. Also note the Voice acting has a system like Microsoft Sam, infact any OFP old school player loves it, Arma 2 ruined it though. OH NO 3 is DOWN.

I've heard alot of good and bad things about ArmA 2. I plan on getting it once I update my GPU

I have ArmA 2, it's nice and all, but my framerate is always around 20 at low settings. So I think I'd rather get 1.

Sounds cool, but even those screenies look high graphics, I don't think my computer to handle it.

On the bright side... I might be getting my own computer soon, a gaming pc

The thing I hate about ArmA 2 anyway is when helicopters survive nose dives into the ground, especially with the extreme difficulty of sniping the pilot.  Also what pisses me off is how even from directly behind in the helicopters blindspot it will instantly notice you in a static defense but not as a soldier, or does the radar pick up targets behind you too?  Best game I've ever played though, never plays out the same way even if you do the exact same scenario again and there's so many options that it would be hard to get tired of.  Does require patience though.

Edit: Also helicopters taking a rocket or worse three rockets to be brought down but I'm not sure how realistic that is, you'd think it would screw up the propellers at the least.

Add me on steam, please.

Also, architect, i'm pretty sure your PC could handle it.

Arma 2 runs better on my friends old XP PC then Arma 1 ever did. Try the demo if you really want to see if it'll work, also Arma 2 beats Arma 1 hands down so don't try to defend ArmA 1.

I've tried the demo. It doesn't work, and I didn't think it would on a Nvidia 6200. I just like ArmA 1 because it actually runs on this piece of stuff. I know ArmA 2 is better.
