Atheists.

I think Atheists are almost hypocritical in the sense that they always accuse anyone religious (mainly Christians) of being silly for believing this or believing that. Well, inversely, it's just as easy for a Christian to say to an Atheist 'you're silly for not believing in God.' I think that if Atheists really tried to practice what they preach, they'd end up being Agnostic, saying 'Well there's no way to prove it either way.' I, as a Christian, think both Atheists and Agnostics are wrong, but it's a lot easier for me to respect someone who is Agnostic because I think they're more respectful to everyone's beliefs. I, to my best recollection, do not remember ever having met an Atheist who's attitude towards myself or Christians in general was 'Yes, that's your belief, I think you're wrong but I can respect you as a person.'

Also, don't turn this into a religion war because that's not what was intended.
I'm offended, though. I'm an atheist, but I think a person is good not based on what that person believes in, but rather by how productive that person is in society. You have only met atheist extremist(s), also known as Inv3rted. He thinks, as far as I can tell, that a person is stupid because that person thinks there is some omnipotent being here helping us through our daily lives.

I disagree with you one the fact that there is a god, but I don't think you're a complete idiot for choosing to believe so.

And...america sucks...it sucks so badly in fact, that it does not deserve a capital A. We live for ourselves and don't care what future generations will go through because of our mistakes.
With this, I can kin of agree, but it isn't like that throughout America. It's just that way with the people in control, unfortunately.

Forum arguments make me mad. We get this notion in our head that we can change the world by debating people through text, where it then falls on blind eyes. There is maybe a 5% chance they'll change their mind, but 95% of the time, no matter how much evidence you put in front of them, they'll stay the same. But I can sympathize. Who is going to listen to some stranger, most like under the age of 18 and probably 100s if not 1000s of miles away. For all you know, they could be making up the "evidence". Unless it's about something that can easily be proved and backed up by something the person will understand (Like a math problem, computer software, or grammer), it shouldn't be debated (As in political views, conspiracy theories, origins of life, etc.). I'm totally for standing up for what you believe in, but doing this over the internet is just stupid.
Hah, boy are you in the wrong thread.

Angry red text time? Yus.
Atheists. Oh hai thar.

I think Atheists are almost hypocritical in the sense that they always accuse anyone religious (mainly Christians) of being silly for believing this or believing that. In my case, that mainly depends on the intensity. There's an older woman in my neighborhood who "praises the lord" for everything, and let's face it, that's just annoying. I also get annoyed if someone tries to push their beliefs onto ME.
Well, inversely, it's just as easy for a Christian to say to an Atheist 'you're silly for not believing in God.' Oh god, it's TOO easy.
I think that if Atheists really tried to practice what they preach, they'd end up being Agnostic, saying 'Well there's no way to prove it either way.' That's me. Huh, guess I'm on the wrong side then? 1/0
I, as a Christian, think both Atheists and Agnostics are wrong, ohu
but it's a lot easier for me to respect someone who is Agnostic because I think they're more respectful to everyone's beliefs. Again, juts don't be obnoxious about it, ya'know?
I, to my best recollection, do not remember ever having met an Atheist who's attitude towards myself or Christians in general was 'Yes, that's your belief, I think you're wrong but I can respect you as a person.' Oh hai.

Also, don't turn this into a religion war because that's not what was intended. Oh, I probably should have read the whole post first.
OH WELL.

Actually I meant that in past tense, meaning...well, meaning exactly what the bold says.

And...america sucks...it sucks so badly in fact, that it does not deserve a capital A. We live for ourselves and don't care what future generations will go through because of our mistakes.
The present is what matters, because the present is now. The future can be considered, but we still need to focus a some bit more on now and us. Because if WE don't survive, there is no future for us.

This is true, but without the future, our species is doomed.

So... multitasking? I see.

Taboo and Doorman, this frame of reference I have about Atheists is purely from what I've experienced. If you can respect my beliefs I can respect yours, even if we both think the other person is wrong.

No matter what you believe, respect and tolerance are always good places to start.

future = bright

Exactly, I see much potential in your future.

Atheists.

I think Atheists are almost hypocritical in the sense that they always accuse anyone religious (mainly Christians) of being silly for believing this or believing that. I call your beliefs silly. I don't call you silly. Even when my insults are directed towards you and are not specified towards your beliefs, that's my intention. I respect humanity and the ease at which we are mislead and one must accept that. and Well, inversely, it's just as easy for a Christian to say to an Atheist 'you're silly for not believing in God.' I call your belief silly because you can't produce any evidence. You're taking it on faith, which I believe is a silly (and harmful) way of doing things. I think that if Atheists really tried to practice what they preach, they'd end up being Agnostic, saying 'Well there's no way to prove it either way.' Actually, you don't know what agnosticism means. Neither do you know what atheism means. Being an agnostic in regard to something implies you believe that no information can be found out on the subject, and no solution will be more probable than the other(s). Atheism is just the lack of belief in the supernatural. Non-theism. I have discovered that the probability of God's existence is so minuscule that assuming his existence is a poor bet. Life could be spent on much better things. I, as a Christian, think both Atheists and Agnostics are wrong, but it's a lot easier for me to respect someone who is Agnostic because I think they're more respectful to everyone's beliefs. I, to my best recollection, do not remember ever having met an Atheist who's attitude towards myself or Christians in general was 'Yes, that's your belief, I think you're wrong but I can respect you as a person.' I find it interesting that you Christians say this but at the same time you believe I am going to be suffering for eternity for what I believe. If you don't, you're going against the Bible. If you say the Bible contains fallacies, how can you know what is false? Is the part that says God exists false?

Also, don't turn this into a religion war because that's not what was intended. um

I would never deny the first amendment rights of anyone. Debate is my way of stopping ignorance in its tracks. I am a secular humanist, and the most important thing is that belief should not cloud our judgment.

I do dislike it when people knock on my door and say "HAVE YOU FOUND JESUS YET?" I'd normally respond with "No! Come on in and we'll look for him!" or "I didn't know he was lost...." C:

Atheists are cool people. They are normally very logical and intelligent, excluding a certain few, and I respect the fact they can talk about there religion without forcing it. On the other hand, some of them are very.....well, when ever they even hear the word "God" they just go "FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU". This isn't to say, though, that people of all religions don't do that sometimes.

And I do dislike it when my own people say "So-and-so better do this, or they're going to hell!" It is like they think they're God or something. But I also dislike it when a person automatically assumes I have "bad" traits because I'm Catholic/Jewish.

Over all, people are people. I can only generalize to a limit, but anyone can believe anything. I know a Catholic-Atheist....strange combination, but yes.

And Inv3rted....don't hurt me :c

Cheers to that.
