Mars Colonization RP
I do believe I mentioned that it was a good RP and a good build.

I have been noticing for a long time, that add-on creators are more noticed than builders.

The reason for this is that a large percentage of builders don't post their builds on the forum.

It's hard for them to be known if only a few people have seen their builds.

I'm hoping that the new Gallery System being developed for RTB will help boost builder's reputations. They'll have a list of their builds displayed on their profile, with each build having its own page - complete with screenshots and an optional download of the save file. It'll of course allow the submitter to specify all the builders (and in turn, those builds will appear on the builder's pages). One of the main focuses is to help builders promote themselves and make sure they get credit for their work. I've got another plan in the pipeline which might hopefully extend the lifetime of a user's work, but I'll make a post about that another time.

I think builds are much less noticed because they're not a permanent fixture - like lego. You build something, go "wow that's cool", maybe play with it a bit and then knock it down and make something new. But add-ons are something that will always be there and can be used by many people for a range of situations.

I get pissed off when someone comes into my server, asks for a mod, I say no and then they leave.

Also, a good portion of Blockland's community consists of children who are at they age where they need shiny, new toys to stay happy. Even some add-ons get 'too old' to them after awhile.

Another reason is just as simple as: Add-ons are harder to develop than builds.

But I agree with you.

I hope too see that system implemented.

Not all true. What if you're making an extremely large and complicated build? Sometimes those would take weeks or months.

That's exactly what I'm saying, most of the blockland community doesn't seem to fully understand the time and effort put into building. How much you are dedicated to building something is the real amazement of a good build.

Years even if you are building something like the titanic.

Barnabas - yes, TheGeek - no, Jetpuff - Yes, Randomguy - Yes,

-edit-

"Builds" section in Files?

Years even if you are building something like the titanic.

If you're a perfectionist, thats easy.

This.

Add-On Makers recieve so much 'fame' simply because their stuff is there to be viewed by lots of people.
When someone makes an Add-On, they generally tend to upload it to the internet, and allow others to download it and use it. So, people will remember that as it's on the Internet, on a Forum.

Most Builds however don't end up being posted in the Gallery, so people don't see them. There certainly are loads of brilliant builders out there, but they're just harder to spot, and they don't come so massively public with it. And, as Ephi said, people build something, then toss it out of sight and build something new. You could tell people that "XxX has an amazing YyY on their server, go and see it!" but that person could have put it away and begun building anew. So, even when the builds are kept on servers, and don't show it on the Internet, they get missed, so people don't get to see others great builds.

Simply put.
Add-Ons: Generally massively Public. Creators get credited by a lot of people.
Builds: Generally Privately kept upon servers. Creators get credited by the few people who saw it.

Everybody says to me "oh, you're the guy who made the slate maps" or "oh you're the guy who made the laser weapons".
As much as I appreciate the recognition, nobody seems to remember USSR or the various things I have built in the past. Not many but still they were cool. Cosei, Chideo, and right now with my Mars Colonization RP. Even with this cool build at the moment that I made like 90%, when I am hosting it, people are more concerened with me having made the laser weapons that I am not even hosting at that time.
Ah wells.
At least I have some fans I suppose, even if they aren't what I would want them to be for. Yay?

Side note:
Cookie, finish your loving water collection facility already you forget. Every person to go on my server bugs me about why "they cant go inside s-7"
grrrrr
Aside from that, <3

I know your builds kick ass. :D

Addon makers are more popular with noobs, really. Example: Heedicalking

I don't know why. But I think the more popular and active members appreciate good builders and eventers more.

I totally agree on this, I could easily go without any 3rd party add-ons in a server.

'Cept maybe the Duplicator and Fillcan, those I find extremely handy.
