Author Topic: Team Fortress 2: My OTHER Questions  (Read 1557 times)

Okay, so I FINALLY got TF2, but my parents want me to "Turn off" blood and gore. Someone sent me instructions on how to do that without totally screwing up the game, but unfortunately, I've lost them. Can anyone help me?

Is there a console command for that?

(When it doubt, Google is your friend!)

I believe so, but I've forgotten it.
Also, is there a command to turn it back on? I'd like to know, just in case.

Lol. I tried to do that.

I swear, whenever I play a violent video game, my mom thinks im going to be a serial killer or something.

Looked there. Didn't really help all too much.

Then I really don't know.

I believe putting this into my config. file might work. But then, how would I set it back to normal afterwards?

violence_agibs "0"
violence_hgibs "0"
violence_ablood "0"
bloodspray 0
violence_hblood "0"
violence_ablood 0

Would it be this, or is there a different number I'd put in?

violence_agibs "1"
violence_hgibs "1"
violence_ablood "1"
bloodspray 1
violence_hblood "1"
violence_ablood 1

But if I removed the quotes, to make it like this:

violence_agibs 0
violence_hgibs 0
violence_ablood 0
bloodspray 0
violence_hblood 0
violence_ablood 0

It would work, right?

Why are parents such national socialists about blood and gore and stuff?
loving media and their "GAMES MAKE PEOPLE KILLERS" bullstuff.

But yeah, that should work, although I don't know the gibbing/blood commands.

Okay, thanks for the help. When I get the chance, I'll be playing a lot. I might also turn the gore back on at some point.

Easier way to do this, go to the games tab in steam, right click -> properties then click set launch options.

I believe you add -lv for less gore or you could add -sillygibs which will turn your gibs into random objects, like a hamburger or something.

Edit: -lv might only be for l4d, not too sure I'll have to test it.

edit2: Yeah just do -sillygibs, it removes all blood/gore, and adds hilarity to boot.

My mom trusts me with games after the gamestop dude told her that games dont make a person violent unless they are already mentally impaired/play it for 3 days straight.
So now I can get whatever I want :D

but not from steam :(

and if your mother doesnt like that theres a new console command that removes gibbing completly
