Author Topic: A more realistic flashlight.  (Read 1587 times)

I know there is already one but it only gives light around you. Now my idea was a flashlight that made light on the object you aim at, like the laser pointer. Is that possible?

reasonably doable: you won't get light within a steady beam, but an explosion that spawns a light and an emitter that makes it look like you're firing a beam of light at something

thatwould be fun =D
go get your scripting monkey you have hidden somewhere, because i know you're just stealing your pet monkey's credit

The problem is that moving the light quickly with a method like that (laser pointer style) will leave dots everywhere instead of an actual beam.

Well it's a start. Look at the one we have now. (link)

like what happens in your laser pointer.

So, like the flashlights from Valve Games?

Could you post a screenshot of that?

Well a beam we don't need. I'll show:
P= P, light=-O, object=|, enemy=()

Ex1: P-----------------------O||||||
Ex2: P------O()               ||||||

Oh that's what I thought of when I saw this topic :C
Bawrshee stole my idea D:

The Valve Flashlights are like guns, actually no they are not.  Well whatever direction you are facing that is where the light shines, just like a real flashlight.  So technically what you are suggestion is a Valve flashlight.

I made a thread just like this a few weeks ago, but this needs to be made already. It doesn't need a beam, it just needs to light the spot that it is pointed at.

yes it doesn't need a beam.

Well I'll try tommorow myself by editing the laser pointer.
