The Wii is for more... casual gamers & younger audiences. Xbox 360 and PS3 are for more Average/Hard Core gamers.

I don't like Wii because they made false promises.  Oh yeah, our Wii Remote has 1:1 Ratio.
Guess what just came along?  Wii MotionPlus, which actually has 1:1 Ratio.  Also the Xbox is getting a camera that you can fight ninjas on so I don't care about motion anymore. :D
