I had an idea like this.

1 person is the hunted
Everyone else are the hunters

The hunted is cloaked except when they attack. They have a slow reload, 2-shot-kill weapon and a 1-hit-kill melee weapon. They are faster, can jump higher, and can possibly climb walls.

The hunters are decked out with chain guns, grenades, etc. They are normal playertypes with a bit smaller of a jump.

The goal of the hunters are to take out the hunted.

i kinda had a reverse idea for this, "spycheck"

one guy is the pyro, and goes around being generally deadly and hard to run away from

everyone else are spies who have to either survive the time limit or backstab the pyro, with only invisibilty watches and silenced guns



i never got around to it because i haven't figured out how to make a decent hide-n-seek kind of map

I played a custom game in halo that was just like this. A house or something with a lot of small passageways work really well. Make sure there aren't any dead ends.

The idea I wanted in my version of the game mode was for players to compete with each other to be the one to kill the Hunter to get the special status - killing each other still possible but not encouraged. Nobody understood the idea so I gave up on it.

Well I'm pretty sure Thorax idea is better than mine I was just suggesting something. And Space Guy maybe there is a way by making messages apear when they spawn saying they have to kill the Hunted.

They'll still shoot at each other then start asking why they can't kill anyone.

No something like: "The objective is killing the hunted one his namecolor is red. Don't waste your time on shooting on teammates they won't die because of the friendly-fire has been putted on."

Or maybe, who ever kills the Hunted becomes the next Hunted.

That's the point. I didn't want friendly fire off - you're not a team, you're competing to win. Killing others in your way to get to the enemy would be encouraged but not as the main focus of the deathmatch.

Or maybe, who ever kills the Hunted becomes the next Hunted with Friendly Fire off.

I've done something like this before, Army VS Swamp Creatures. The army had all the high tech weapons and the swamp creatures had the Cloak and Dagger and some melee weapons. The goal was for the army to capture the three seige points and then the one in the Swamp Creature's underground base. It was interesting and I don't recall anyone trying to teamkill.. Twice as many swamp creatures because they only had melee.

Couldn't you just use the team balance options in TDM mod?
