CnC Generals is messed up

I picked up Command and Conquer: The First Decade about last week and for some reason, Generals is acting up. About every 15-20 seconds, it will freeze up for a bit. What's wrong? This was the main reason I picked up the package, this and Red Alert 2.

Windows XP, and as for specs all I know is that it has an Nvidia 7800 Graphics card.

Right click My Computer, look near the bottom for processor info.

This is actually pretty odd because I ran it on a 9800GT a while ago just fine.

My GeForce 7600 (AGP, of course), with a Pentium IV 3.2Ghz runs this game right fine.
