Author Topic: Javelin Rocket Launcher  (Read 10050 times)

Offtopic, but yeah, I agree.

ACtually, a good amount of the data supplemented in the OP is false. It has a scope, it does NOT shoot/see through walls, and it indeed does not fire up. You point it at a target, fire, then you have to put the system down for the rocket to be controlled by it.

While we're in the topic of RLs, an AT-4 (It shoots an 84mm rocket  :cookieMonster:) Would be nice. It's a disposable RL that fires once, and is then just dead weight.

Opposite in GMod.
=P
Meh, whatever. I'd just like to see something like this be made.

You know, this has a pretty confusing name. It's a name of a weapon that's more of a nickname than a technical name. The technical name for a real javelin is basically a spear--you should look more into the actual weapon itself and possibly make the title a bit less confusing.

This thread isn't dead until someone who is notably advanced in scripting says so.
When you fire a projectile, it doesn't find a target, meaning weapons don't create a specific spot to travel. Projectiles only go straight, or fall if they have gravity. You aren't creating any "targets out of nowhere."
The midpoint is not a target, for the record. You can think of it more as a "checkpoint."
K if it goes straight, then why does this one go up at an angle, and miraculously go down at the exact point a person is? If that's all you're saying, this is a homing rocket, not something that flies up and comes down at an equal angle for stuffs and giggles.

Idea stolen from Modern Warfare 2, get your own ideas dude.

You're an idiot.
MW2 uses real-life weaponry in the game. Did you even see my pictures? They don't look very animated, huh?

Yus, but it goes up.

lmao, that was sarcazem, and if it wasn't, you're da frekin idiot.

If you know the distance between yourself and the target, and you know how fast the rocket would go, and you know the acceleration of gravity, in theory you could find the total horizontal displacement of the rocket when launched at an angle.

EDIT: Actually, if what Blobeh said was true (you can measure distance) then with trigonometry you could find horizontal and vertical distance away and thus find what angle to launch it at. This means it would work when what you're shooting at is not level.

Thank you - Everyone knows that sarcasm is easily detected through text. That was sarcasm.

You still don't understand what I mean when I say target. The target isn't a person its a spot. Think of it as the air strike beacon. You pick a spot on the ground, then the rocket will travel there. The javelin isn't a homing rocket launcher on everything, just vehicles.

Not in GMod. X3
"SAY HALLO TO MAI LEEL FREN', KLEINER!"
Yeah, vehicles-only would work.

The javelin is in GMod?

It is possible to find some sort of distance using a projectile, look at Space Guy's laser pointer.
