Author Topic: I want YOUR Zombie ideas  (Read 2892 times)

I've been working on a zombie deathmatch with custom zombie types for a while now, but I want to mix up the gameplay a bit. There are several things about the way players tend to fight zombies I want special types of zombies to be fine-tuned to "defuse":

1. Players hiding in high or out-of-reach places Solved with "Gruntchucker" type
2. Players fighting in groups
3. Players hiding to avoid being detected by zombies
4. Players remaining in the same area for long periods of time Solved with "Walker" type

For example, to solve the first problem, the "Gruntchucker" zombie was created. It is a rather large and fast but not very powerful zombie that can pick up and throw "Grunts", very small, weak, and slow zombies, at players in order to damage players hiding on top of things and perhaps even knock them off.

I'd prefer not to blatantly rip off ideas from another game, i.e. I don't want you to say "Copy the spitter from left 4 dead" to solve problem number 2 or 4. I want new, creative, fun, and interesting ideas that would add to the gameplay experience.

I'd like it if we could stay away from magic zombies.

Magic? Maybe it could of been a zombie that ran into power lines.

Gruntchucker was my idea :D

I suggest zombies being able to jump longer distances but not as high up if they crouch then jump.

Other ideas:
Parasite zombie: they could "bite" you and mount on you and sap Heath from you till you die.

Kamikazee: A fast zombie who will run into survivors. On contact the Kamikazee will explode launching nearby players great distances, explosion deals little damage.

Lonely Walker: A very slow zombie who can see players at great distances, therefore knowing where they are before other player and being able to detect them when others can't, they would move slowly towards you making you have to avoid them due to thier high health and strong attack.

Keep in mind I'm trying to solve specific problems with the way players fight, not just add zombies.

That was my intention, I added another zombie also.

This is also a good idea, you're on a roll :D

Oh ok, for zombie 3 you could add a zombie that can break any brick but a baseplate, maybe with acid hands or something. And they could tell If a player has been inactive.

The AFK kicker can check if people haven't done anything for a while, maybe make a zombie which will be set off if you don't move.

Hound: A fast zombie whose nose can sniff out any survivor if said survivor stays in one place for a long time, mid health, mid attack.

VS groups:
"Brawler"
runs toward a single target with blinding speed and throws a bigass punch that sends the unlucky victim flying into the air, vertical impulse 5000-ish. anyone nearby is knocked away, and if there's not enough room to charge he simply slaps people around, similar to the tank

VS people in one place:
"Strider"
instead of walking, the strider takes "hops" toward a victim: short jumps that cover about 12 studs each, 2 seconds inbetween. once it reaches a target, it quickly "scrapes" the area (compare to a typical anime superspeed attack), spawns a quick explosion which disarms everyone nearby (dropping their weapons), does damage, and flies off into the distance to slowly hop back

VS hidden people
"Hopper"
when a player is nearby, the hopper jumps toward it, regardless of whether he can see it or not: if the hopper hits a wall during a hop, he sticks, and tries to hop toward the player again: if he actually hits any players, the player and hopper are both stunned (player, disarmed). this zombie would work well against the second problem as well, since this would force the players to defend their stunned pal (or run like hell)
