Author Topic: I will not use the word "ain't"  (Read 1580 times)

How dare this word be added to dictionaries. It's a pain to hear. Contractions combine words while removing a letter. For example, "has not" becomes "hasn't." It it clearly "has" and "not" combined with the "o" replaced with an apostrophe. What does "ain't" mean in a technical standpoint?
It is a "word" that is used in place of "am not", "is not", "are not", "has not", or "have not." This does not make sense.

Because english is that forgeted up.

"you" could be one person, but it could also be everyone!

Oh man, I could so go and create a huge damn post about just how absolutely handicapped some parts of English are, but I won't.

This never happens in spanish. There are 4 words for you. And only like 3 abbreviations

Swedish is even better, you can create your own words! =)

That's because Romance laguages are actually well-thought-out.

Happens a lot in Spanish. Hablo can mean I talk or he talked, he talked has an accent over it but when speaking you would have to use "el" to let them know, or the context. Same with all the question words they all have lots of meanings. Como means "like" or "how" or "what." Que means "what" or "that" or "as." -ir verbs are the same for past or present in the nosotros form. Spanish has like 18 words for pig, they tend to have 5+ words for one English word. Most Spanish people I know say English is easier because there is far less rules, in Spanish if you make one little mistake because of their strict grammar rules, no one knows wth you said.

Who the forget cares if you speak proper english and use correct grammar over the internet? As long as people understand what you're saying, it doesn't really matter how you say it.

I don't think he's talking about using proper grammar/spelling over the Internet.

Ain't that something that firefox thinks Ain't is a word?

In Pennsylvania it's a word, we made it :D

I don't think there is anything wrong with the word, or the point of complaining about something being added to the dictionary.

This would never happen in ROBLOX

The only time I use ain't is occasionally when I say, "No it ain't" but I usually always say, "No it isn't" or, "No it is not" It usually happens when I'm angry or frustrated since I live in the country. It's kind of like a crude backup mechanism for inability to fill out my sentences entirely when I can't think straight.

hey now. you take away all the pseudo-words and black people wont be able to speak to each other.
