once rex starts paying his own taxes, he can bitch about it

My Opinion:

Canada loves their system, its wonderful.

Currently a giant percentage (I'm not sure, but I know someone is pushing for 90% goes to the care, and the health care lobby is trying to stap it like mad) of what you pay doesn't go to your care, it goes to the health care companies. My family pays 20,00 in health care a year. Thats a family of five. If we went to the government system of course taxes would increase. But by $20,000? Of course not. As the government doesn't have any big executives or a company to maintain then more will go into the actual care. Thus we would save money by going to a socialized system. We already have a socialised system; ask any docter, any at all. If you have insurance, you pay for those who don't and declare bankruptcy. My dad, as a doctor, has never received a payment from someone in cash. Only from the insurance agency. Thus your money is paying or others healthcare.

If the government pays for it, your taxes will increase (but not by much) , you wont pay anything for health care, and the treatment will not change much. Sure hospitals will be less comforting, but who gives a forget. Your in there for like 3 days half the time, then you go home. Also less pampering, more lets get you healthy and out of here, like it should be. ON the plus side no more checking insurance before they fraking give you Tylenols.

There is a fear of any kind of government maintenance of a market here. There is no logical reason as to why a company and its rival should be able to raise and lower premiums without a government controlled benchmark to compete with. A public option simply keeps them in line. It has nothing to do with taking over the market, you paranoid conservatives.

And my statistic about support for the public option was outdated and from September or sometime. The current figure is 50%.

I want it. Everyone deseves to be helped. What if you get hurt really bad and it costs like 100,000 bucks? In this economy, I think it would be perfect. Imagine a word where there is no need for health insurance.
Aparently you live in a fairy tale world where the government can pay for $100,000 operations with Monopoly money.

Also, it seems that everyone that is pro-healthcare in this thread paints the government as a touchy-feely group of people that care about your personal access to healthcare. Has it ever occurred to you that its simply a façade put up by the government to get you on their healthcare plan? You're giving the government control of what healthcare the poor receive. Next thing we know, we've got Obama singing us a lulaby about the joys of a thought police.

One more edit: I'm not against healthcare. What healthcare needs to be is available for the rich should they want to pay for personal healthcare, reasonable for the middle class and available through government (as long as their motives are 100% to provide affordable healthcare.) Also, it shouldn't cost the taxpayers unreasonable amounts of money to provide healthcare for the poor.

what

You're assuming that insurance companies care about their customers, Sirrus. At least the government is democratically elected and has a chance of being affected by public opinion.

what the forget? That like saying walmart is being painted blue, thus we're going to be zombies. They have no connection. The government already supplies us our police force, our fire department, and the military. No thought police yet.

Also, as Inv3rted said, the government cares more about us then health-care companies. Companies want money, the government wants people happy so they get reelected.

Companies want money, the government wants people happy so they get reelected.

The only problem with this is this:

Personally, the only way to make congress fair once again is to either eliminate reelections or to ban private donations. The former sounds more practical, being as congresspeople have no incentive to listen to lobbyists who pay for their campaigns because they only have one term and don't need to worry about being reelected.

Companies pay for the election and they have a representative in their pocket.

I can't have an opinion on this subject due to bias.
My aunt died waiting for her cancer treatments. Twas a sad day. :'(

there is nothing wrong with living in a socialist country, where most all things, inc many businesses are ran by the government.

the US government has been teaching us to fear and hate socialism for years.
because corporations that run the government fear losing power and money.

Okay, I'll back out of that point but I still can't fully get behind this health care bill. If there is any 'mandatory for all Americans' in this bill, I can't support it. If the government figures out a good way to offer decent healthcare to Americans under a certain income threshold without costing the taxpayers too much, I might support it but any bill that mandates an American from any income bracket to get on Obamacare or face jail time or fines, I can't support.

With this it's not like they're just taking your money. They're actually saving lives with it...

If the American government could take every dollar of tax increase due to the health care bill and put that directly into an efficient healthcare system where as many people as possible were treated with said money, than it would be rainbows and kittens, however, I doubt the the government can work this efficiently.

What about that debt. Are we ever going to fix it?

Dude. We have 12.1 Trillion in debt. $1.2x1013.
That's a number that I can't even conceptualize in terms of stuff I could buy.

I am Straton. I use a IP address for this account. I made this account to ventilate my rage over the forums. I own at politics, if you give me the chance, so why not ventilate over it? Plaz shared his philosophies with me, and I was inspired. I now realize my decisions where stupid.

I can only ask for forgiveness. With all the stress under BiT, its hard to say stable.
