Or people could disable the tons of add-ons they aren't currently using on their server so you wouldn't have so much un-used stuff to download for each server you go to.

I like this idea. No, it doesn't help it load faster. Yes, it does tell a person if they're going to take a minute or two or a half hour. Maybe also an "estimated time left" option? :D

Possibly, albeit the time left thing would require constant updating--I could be wrong, but it might be a little hard.
