With all the money Microsoft has, I think they might be able to buy it.
What if Apple buys it first?

You'd imagine a company like Microsoft pays a guy to camp in front of the patent department and rush in as soon as the copyright runs out to renew the copyright :<

OH NO. Court bans Microsoft from selling Word.
You just can't buy it new anymore.

Okay, good.

Why would apple need it?

I don't think they're going to waste money on something they're not going to use, even if it means Microsoft can't us it.

If Apple did buy it, Microsoft will make their own program.

you mean people actually buy word?

You obviously haven't seen '07. It operates so much better than previous versions.

I'd know, I had to install EVERY PREVIOUS VERSION FROM ORIGINAL DISCS just to upgrade to 07.

Haha, long time ago, I got the student discount for office 2003 (which I'm still using), even though I wasn't a student at the time.  I can't remember exactly how I finagled that one.
