Author Topic: Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?  (Read 1301 times)

Which do you think is correct to say? I got into a fight with my uncle tonight over this. He thinks saying Happy Holidays is wrong. I beg to differ.

I'm only asking which one, the second this turns into a religious argument, I'll lock it.

Happy Holidays may be found less 'offensive' to others. Some may not celebrate Christmas. I just use Happy Holidays.

I've always said Merry Christmas, and I always will. Political correctness can go get stuffed.

It depends on the situation. If you can put a large wager of money on the fact that someone celebrates Christmas, gamble and say Merry Christmas. If not, say Happy Holidays. For example, I live in a largely Christian town, so I can very confidently say Merry Christmas and nobody has any issues.

I say Merry Christmas because I don't believe in Holidays

Wait...wut?

You'd make a bad Australian.

Wait...WHAT THE forget?

Merry Holidays works fine for me.

Happy Christmas and Merry Holidays to you all.

Anyone who believes that any kind of wish for happiness is wrong is a massive cunt. Go abuse your uncle's sphincter with unsanded plywood.

I like happiness, and my uncle is sitting with me.

The vast majority of the US celebrates Christmas. Other holidays are celebrated elsewhere in other countries so it's "Merry Christmas." Anyone who doesn't like it or celebrate it, oh well. Big deal. Get over it if it offends you so much. Those people need to go back to Kindergarten if they can't handle something someone says.
