So me and my bro and his friend was having a live party, i invited muzzles,
one guy didn't know who he was, i did it for a lol, my bros friend mentioned he was crap at MW2, and muzzles left the party, and started sending my brother and his friend spam, and then sent me one

I've heard two different versions for this.

First one was pwn as in "pwin." Various South Park references I believe.

And simply pronounced "Own" because it started off as a typo, like a lot of fads did and they didn't care to correct the pronunciation or actually make sure they were typing it correctly. *shrugs*
