You mean can the PS3 play PS2 and PS1 games?
Most likely yeah. I mean, the Xbox 360 can play Xbox games, so why not the PS3 play PS2 games?

The 60gb version does.

 I like playing the old Ps1 games

I'm not sure, you'd best be going with a 60gb one. They have it for sure.

The newer models do not have Backwards compatibility.

The following models do though: CECHA01 - Original 80GB  CECHA01 - Original 60GB CECHB01 - Original 20GB. None of those are in production anymore though. Quick way to find out if you own one of the above models is to look at the front of your PS3 and see how many USB ports you have. If you have 4 you have BC.
