Author Topic: Well, I asked my dad to forward my ports so I can host a server...  (Read 2640 times)

and after reading the instructions, he was pissed and said OH NO, I'm not doing this. it'll put our whole machine on the open internet and someone could hack us and destroy our computer. is there an alernative to port forwarding to host a server?

I don't know how to say this without being rude, so I'm just going to be rude.  Your dad shovels coal for a living and I am a goddamn professional computer programmer.  I know more about this subject than your dad.  Port forwarding, if done correctly, is completely safe.

well, tell that to him... :(

wait.. I'm on wireless internet. do I need to forward my ports?

I have Verizon FiOS and its loving fast I recomend you get it tell your dad they cant hack you or tell badspot to send you a email telling him you cant get hacked.

Does badspot have some sort of proof he's legit I can ask him to send my dad? I want him to notice it isn't dangerous... :\

Badspot is a computer programmer.

That should be proof enough.

Send him a personal mesage on the forums and ask him if he can give you some ledgit proof of its safe to port forward then once he replies show your dad the personal message.

Alrright. Should I E-mail the blockland support or just forum message him?
