Author Topic: Vertical Plate Bricks  (Read 1608 times)

This is something I have wanted for many versions, but I finally got around to suggesting.

Basically I want plate bricks that are vertical, I have made a little paint picture demonstrating what I mean by this.

I know that Blockland is limited to using standard collision boxes, so the function of these would be limited greatly, but the purpose of these I have in mind are external house decor that is less obtrusive (e.g stacks of ordinary 1x stud bricks, if anyone could make these it would be extremely appreciated (Anyone who has ever tried to create a nice looking door barricade, or block windows and doors for a run down city building will understand the usefulness of these).

Yes the picture is crappy, but it does the job of explaining the things I had in mind.

Discuss and post constructive comments.

This would be quite good

How would these fit onto studs?

That was one of the problems I thought would be brought up, while that would indeed look rather stuff as far as texture alignment goes I just can't think of it as a major reason to not make these, they would be extremely useful in builds and as long as you can get over the minor cosmetic blunders it'd all be peachy.

However I doubt many people are going to let that pass as a viable excuse to just leave it as is, so I would accept any ideas on how to get around that problem so that this can be made by someone without it being failbinned.

Blockland isn't made for bricks that are thinner than one brick, otherwise the placement system just doesn't make sense.

I thought as much, it's just something I have been wanting for a very long time, since at the least V8.

It just seems strange that the height of bricks are measured in 1/3rd's but not the width.

I thought that these bricks could be placed on the same 1x Stud grid as ordinary bricks, so that they're only capable of being put against another brick, I never meant that they could be moved on a grid like normal plates can be moved up, if that's what you mean by the placement system

what if the plates appeared to be half the size of a real brick but functioned but the same as any other brick?

IE: a vertical plate 1x0.5x5 is just a 1x1x5 that looks different

That's what I meant with this, they function the same as normal bricks but they have a thickness of 1/3rd

Well, All I can say is that you won't see it in an official Blockland release.

just make a ****ing print for the 4x4 (/1x1) print brick

I fail to understand how a print can function as an entire new brick, nor your need to swear

We Need:

-Cubes covered in studs (Top, Sides, and Bottom)
-Ability to rotate bricks upsidown and sideways (Ex: Tree top is facing down)

With this you could plant bricks sideways or even upside down on cubes covered in studs.

Also it'd be fun to have the ability to rotate players upside down.

Can't.
Badspot would have to redo the Torque engine. Or something like that. But it's impossible

Get a bucket of LEGO bricks and you'll understand.
