Author Topic: IL2 Sturmovik 1946  (Read 1251 times)

I know there's already a topic about this, but that topic died in May.

So, here we go again.

IL2 Sturmovik is a combat flight simulator similar to Jane's WWII fighters. It features some stunning damn visuals, If your card can support them, a great damage model for every plane, and the best loving physics I've seen in a combat flight sim so far. You can fly anything from a B-24 to an ME-262 to the infamous IL2. It's a bloody loving fantastic game in my opinion. 1946 is, sadly, only for the PC. You don't really need a high end computer to run it, unless you want to make it look pretty. You can buy it off of steam for about $10. Link: http://store.steampowered.com/app/15320/

Downloadable or storebought?

Right, forgot to mention, editing.

I recently bought this.
But, one major problem.

I cant host, or join ANY sort of game, and yes I am up to date and my ports are forwarded.

I have the first one.

1946 i think is more of an expansion off of IL2 sturmovik.

I would suggest looking at the older one first.

Actually, if you buy it off the steam store it comes with the base game + all expansions. That's what 1946 is.

You need something like XFire to play online.

Actually, there's this program called Hyperlobby specifically made for this game. I always get an error upon starting it though.

You might be running the wrong version of the game, skies of fire/skies of fire run on 4.08m and you'll probably want to get AAA pack thing.

No, it is the first one with 4 expansions and then it adds another 32-34 planes.  If you can even find the first one anywhere you're wasting your money.

Edit:  Bombed some bridge.

Few flack holes in me, the snow runways are so difficult to see, I didn't see the actual strip until I got to about 300m.

Your graphics are set on low probably, I could see them perfectly.

They're maxed out, tweaked the config to get the best possible settings, it just blends in well when you're looking in the wrong field for the runway..  stick out like a soar thumb under clouds though.

I didn't waste my money by getting the first one.

I got it before 1946 even existed.  :cookieMonster:

Err yeah, :P I mean if you were to get it now.

I'll buy this, maybe.
Anyone else own this?
