Author Topic: How big is your saves folder?  (Read 4834 times)

Hi Guys, I'm doing a little research for a new RTB feature. Could you post how big your "saves" folder is in your Blockland folder? For windows users you should be able to right-click the saves folder, go to properties and have a look at the size.

What will this feature be? :D

72.4 MB (75,924,553 bytes)

I'm looking at the feasibility of actually storing everyone's saves and their screenshots on the RTB servers. Each time you save, your game would secretly upload it to your RTB account where it would then keep a history of overwritten files (so you can get older versions of something you overwrote accidentally). This also allows you to use your saves if you visit a friend's house for example, or you're just using another pc.

Based on the sizes so far, we're looking at an average of around 50-60MB per user including screenshots - multiply that by 4500 (roughly the number of RTB users) and you've got ~263GB of data to store in total (which again is not including the history of overwritten files which would inflate the size considerably per user).

one is a save of how an easy way to get all around the kitchen without jets or vehicles.(AKA a click activated one brick catapult.)
ground to sink, sink to stove chimney, stove chimney to top of fridge. top of fridge to top of pantry, top of pantry to top of hanging picture, top of hanging picture to other hanging picture. other hanging picture to shelf, and shelf to table and finally table to window.
the other is a computer which I hardly know how to make

Edit:

Maybe make people pay for the service? I wouldn't mind paying around $2 to 5$ a month to keep all my builds safe.

NOU
thats what donating is for.
that and I barely have enough for retail

I've pretty much ruled out ever asking for money for the service RTB provides. I enjoy writing it just as much as people enjoy using it so it seems like a fair deal already.
