I only have enough money to get one of these games, but I'm not entirely sure which one I would enjoy most.

borderlands for extensive gameplay

You'll get a lot more value for money with Borderlands - Left 4 Dead 2 has limited replayability..

You'll get more fun with l4d2, unless you play it 24/7 and it's your only game.

same goes with all co-op games
then when you're at school you can tell other people about your epic quest to take down the evil queen dragonia.

Yeah, I don't really plan on playing either game with people I know.

Just a few online friends with L4D2 maybe.

Get Borderlands. Then get the zombie island addon. No use for L4D2 now

I checked GameInformer, it turns out Borderlands has a slightly lower score than L4D2 but more replayability.

I have both and I got a lot more out of Borderlands.
