Author Topic: What is "Ping"  (Read 2427 times)

My server has pretty low ping. Is that a good thing? I know I look/sound pretty stupid for asking this, but it has just been "shooting me in the head" and I need to know.

The ping for my server is usually 87, post yours, if you want too...

A low ping is good, a high ping is bad and means the servers/players are lagging

Why thank you. I won't lock cause a better explanation could be waiting. No offense.

What is pingas?
Distance in milliseconds between two points.
87 ping means it takes 87 milliseconds between you and whatever you are pinging(round-trip). If you're pinging your own server and have a ping greater than 10ms, you have a big issue. It is definitely 0 ping if you "query lan".

Ping Jitter is how much the pings varied while they were being tested.

How to have DISTANCE varying?

How to have DISTANCE varying?
What?
This is like saying "Page created in 0.077 seconds with 24 queries. " will always be the same.

Seconds and queries are not distance.

It's like saying "I am 5 feet away from my table, but without moving at all, I am now 14 feet away."

What I said was perfectly fine.
