I noticed this awhile ago, and am revisiting it now.

1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 = 1

Is this equation correct?
Of course. So if 1/3 = ~.33, then why is this?

.33 + .33 + .33 = .99

Where does that extra .01 come in that takes .99 to 1? Discuss, and please tell me why the hell this paradox exists.

Not quite.
1/3 = 0.33333333 recurring.
This means that 3(1/3) would be equal to 0.999999 recurring, and would get infinitely close to, but never reach, one.
