General Discussion / Re: Blockland Repository

So you don't replace existing version.json files? You just add your repository to them? Sounds good.

Wonderful!

We're never replacing anything but stuff that have to do with BLR. Other than that, the only thing we're removing, though, is redundant files, like Thumbs.db, .DS_Store, .svn, .git, etc...

I just put up the new version on the server and will list the big changes that we've made:

Quote
  • All basic design is implemented so it looks better than before
  • Better handling of Blockland Authentication to account
  • Threw around the database tables like a jerk
  • Added support for saves
  • Better experience for uploading, editing an updating Add-Ons
  • Lots of more error handling to ensure the user knows what's going on
  • Several bug fixes

The rest of the features can be viewed on GitHub.

1. Allow for "upstream repositories". (A Support_Updater repository that's queried by your site for updates)

We currently support other repositories that if you have already set it in your version.json, it will keep it. Depending on how your Support_Updater works, it will update to that version if it's newer.

2. Scrape BLG for new submissions and allow BLG to do the same to your site. Maybe work together on a common API. This allows mods to be shared.

The intention with this project is to reduce all friction between projects and allowing sharing between hosts is a part of it. We're currently working with BLG to create a common API to achieve this.

To avoid this thread from falling into the depths of lost topics, I'll write a short notice about where we're at and what you'll probably see in the coming week. If anyone have been following the develop branch, you might have already seen everything coming together. We're working toward a late alpha.

First off, Demian have worked restlessly to make the design work correctly and make it really good.

Secondly, I've gone through the previous database and changed most branches in the database tree to make all tables work better than before. This will of course result in, like I mentioned in the disclaimer, that I will remove everything from the database on the site as it is quite difficult to merge the changes together.

Other than that, we've implemented support for saves and a lot of functionality to make the experience on the site easier than it was before. We still got a bunch of things that we're currently working on to implement before we're done. We'll see what will happen in the coming week.

Autosaver seems to be the most popular and most up to date.

General Discussion / Re: Idea: 100+ player life simulator
« on: December 18, 2016, 03:38:48 AM »
I'm not to fond of the idea of dying and having to re-spawn in 5-10 mins, but what do you guys think of dying and just having to start over, kind of like unturned? Not necessarily for this type of server but any type of survival or rpg server. I feel that it adds a level of fear/excitement and idk although dying would suck, it would add a penalty for dying in the first place.

Sounds a bit like DayZ to me. But then again people would gang around and violate you whenever they get the chance. We got the Item Storage and several mods that can simulate zombies, so why wont this be a thing instead?

More like "Greek procrastinates before his exams".

I can relate to this. We can do it together.

Modification Help / Re: Lines in between prints

Overlapping shouldn't be a problem in this case as they have the same color at the edges, so they would just smudge into each other.

I believe that this could be more a problem of bleeding. It is odd, though, as I thought TorqueEngine should handle that. I guess it could have something to do with anti-aliasing.

That is indeed nice. I don't event much, but this would improve a lot for some eventer.

Also, would it be bothersome for you to add custom key-binds? I'm no vim or emac fan, but something toward that would make it even easier as you don't even need to touch the dropdown, if even needing it at all.

Add-Ons / Re: Blockland Glass 3.2.1
« on: December 11, 2016, 11:30:07 AM »
No, you should really add a description file to your maps saying who built it and what it's called.

For all other Add-Ons description.txt is required, but for Speedkarts a credits.txt is sufficient. I haven't tested what is required for a valid Speedkart Add-On, so I could be completely wrong. I myself do think that a description.txt should be used instead.

Edit: I checked the source, and apparently only a save.bls is required. If you add a description.txt, Blockland will interpret it as an Add-On even if it isn't. I would refrain from using description.txt to avoid Blockland trying to execute the archive and generate an error. Instead use the credits.txt that should be required(Currently is not) in the actual GameMode_SpeedKart. An environment.txt is optional.

The video name is now L/L/P. Wonder what that means.

Probably same as before, as the letters are the same index as the previous numbers.
