Can you give me a quick step-by-step on how to make this do something coherent? I'm not a scripter.

I'd like to play.

But you'll probably need to organize the teams for each game and schedule it a day or two in advance.

A gui for generating a maze (out of bricks) that gives options like difficulty and size.

If you can't get into orbit, try the asparagus ship design.

Modification Help / Re: [BrickPack] Roleplaying Miniatures
« on: January 26, 2013, 02:29:38 PM »
Thanks :D

Due to the popularity of mini empires, I may do a brick pack for that specifically after this one.
As for the modern/future themed ones; I'll be sure to keep it in mind for the future, but that won't be for awhile.

Also, updated the human model/pose today and added a poll.

Generally it's a good idea to ASK the person who made the add-on about things like this.
Perhaps they don't want it to be default.

Oh yea.
Their clothes/hats and some accessories take the color you paint them.

What

This is a brick pack of miniatures, usually found useful in role-playing games like D&D.
When the brick is clicked, it switches to an attack pose.

When

I'm not sure if I want to release it as a work in progress here and update over time, or if I just want to release the whole thing when I'm finished with it. Tell me what you think!

Where

This brick-pack would be best used on D&D style servers. (suggest other places you'd use these!)

Why

I started this project to get better at 3d modeling. Also because using poles as people in my D&D sessions was rather boring.

How

I'll tell you when I have some more done.

To Do

What I want to to most now is to edit the first 3 (human dwarf elf) to look like they have more character (gnome).
After that I'll start pumping out some monsters, maybe death poses, making different sized bricks, to infinity and beyond.

Here's a list of the models I'd like to make for this pack: (most will probably be squished together or removed)
Key:

Development / Re: 2012/10/26 - Obj to Blb Converter

Any progress on these?
I've been playing Blockland more recently and...

Unfortunately I'm debating on whether or not the project is worth the effort for Blockland.

I'll model a bit for the next week and see where things end up. I mostly wanted to do this just for modelling practice anyway, so odds are I'll probably finish it.
But yes, progress is happening; but it's rather slow due to RL getting in the way.

(making a topic so that I won't take up room for dev information here)

Kind of improvised the "Mars Curiosity" style landing here and used RCS to stabilize my descent speed after I ran out of slowmedown fuel.

And... out of the rubble...

Now I'm working on the drop pod that will refuel the RCS and Xenon tanks.

It's very good. 8/10
But I think that the bottom bit is a little bland, and that horizontal line that wraps around interferes with that.

Perhaps lowering that line and hanging pictures across the hall would clean that up.

General Discussion / Re: Looks/Amount of detail versus brickcount?
« on: January 22, 2013, 04:33:10 PM »
It's important to have a playable game.

I'm on a laptop with an Intel HD graphics card, so that limits me to about 30-40k bricks ghosted at once without any frame rate issues.

If you're making something that needs players to move without this lag, then you'll need to "optimize" your build.
Inversely if you're making something like an RPG where there's no real pressure to move quickly, go all out.

Okay, don't go all out unless you're making something for show, like something that taking pictures of would be nice.

     Here's a few brute examples.
15-35k (bricks) - Suitable for fast action, DM's, Challenges, Sometimes City RPG's.
35-100k - Good for leisurely RPG's, usually if your brickcount is this high, it's good to use a few strategies to break up how much a player sees at once.
100-250k - Unplayable for many low-end computer users. Take pictures of these.

Essentially you're choosing what kind of crowd to appeal to. The vast number of low-end computer users, or the fewer but possibly more knowledgeable high-end computer users. (This statement is not supported by fact, only by my own estimation. It seems that the more serious users are active on the forum to give up statistics, showing perhaps a false statistic of good/bad computers ratio.)

In the end, it's up to you to make the best out of the bricks you use. Just keep in mind the limitations of some player's systems.

I don't think that it's easy and I don't just decide ideas! I make the game, I make the scenery, I make the mountains, the hills, the gui, and the HUD.

My friends do the rest.
Post examples of your work, details about what was done/who did it/how long it took, how you went about planning for it, etc.

If you can prove to me that you are functional, then I will be far more interested.

Mega I've used something like that before a long time ago, thank you. It does exactly what I needed.
