terraria isnt about combat, there is a lot of exploration to it like finding corruption, digging, finding the dungeon, underground jungle, etc.
terraria also has a more detailed building system and more materials to make things out of.
terraria also gets updates

minecraft is about getting to the underworld to look around because nothing there is worth anything.
also not caring about dungeons because they are random and near impossible to find.
also diamonds
and useless updates

You can't really compare the 2. They are building games, yes, but they have a lot of differences.

But I prefer minecraft. Terraria gets boring for me after awhile faster. Minecraft usually doesn't.
