Author Topic: City RP Stock Market  (Read 890 times)

I have always wished for a city rp with a working stock market for big corporations. Could this ever work? I understand this may be abusable, but with proper administration could something like this work? It's just an idea that I wanted to share and haven't exactly thought too much into depth on it. I'm just wondering if anyone wants something like this as well.

City RPG can't even manage a stable economy first.

When has a real economy ever been attempted to be implemented into city rps though? Something like this could shift the goals of a city rp from chopping the most wood for a gun to actual roleplay.

It's impossible when you have an unlimited amount of money. Admins can make money mysteriously appear in their pockets and all you have to do is hide in your house and collect a paycheck for being AFK.

I believe all of that can be avoided though. It would be great if you had to work hard to earn money too.

Big Brother made one with VCE.

Agreed Count.

A lot of what I've made or worked on in Blockland has been mock-realistic. That is my style, because I find taking realistic concepts and putting them in BL has this huge novelty factor with enduring entertainment value.

With this in mind, a lot of the things I have made in the past have been aimed at a niche portion of the community, and a demographic of people that barely exists. So either:

- It won't catch on because people don't understand where you are coming from
- The player base won't understand it and it'll cause confusion (how many kids understand the stock market?)

I personally would love it. I can see in my head scrolling prints going along a stock building with business names like "BLMA" and "MicroBlock" scrolling across it haha. But I don't think its something that will be embraced properly.

There was no stock market in the traditional sense. Just a system tracking resource value. Its not the same.

BLMA is a scam so no

What fun is a stock market if you can't crash it? ;D

Wiki
A stock market or equity market is a public entity (a loose network of economic transactions, not a physical facility or discrete entity) for the trading of company stock (shares) and derivatives at an agreed price; these are securities listed on a stock exchange as well as those only traded privately.
