Author Topic: School Days Missed  (Read 1537 times)

Are you skipping school, or are you just sick?

You can only miss 18 days at my school, cause thats 10% of the entire year. If you miss more than 18 you apparently "didn't learn the entire curriculum" and have to take 18 days of summer school.

I think you can miss 25 here, excused, and after that you get held back
it's like four unexcused before you get detention
At the schools, if you've got an attendance rating lower than 95%, then you're in trouble and have warnings.
so, did that mean you couldn't be out at all during the first 20 days? or did they make exceptions for that?

This girl who goes to my school has only shown up 6 times the whole year and was "sick" for the rest

did that mean you couldn't be out at all during the first 20 days? or did they make exceptions for that?
My schools were generally pretty understanding about it, so long as your parents phoned in to explain why you wouldn't be at school, or you had a note from your parents or doctor when you got back.

College however, they're a bit more annoying.
The college computer system will flag you up for having an especially low attendance rate, and it would be sent to your personal tutor.
They're supposed to talk to you about it, and in most cases give you official warnings and put you on contracts.
But if it was at the beginning of the year and you were being sincere about being sick, or brought in a note too, then they'd just ignore it. You can't help being sick.
The system isn't perfect, but it accomodates for unforseen circumstances.

Wow. My school has like 16 days you can miss

If we miss more than 6 days of school unexcused we have to get a C or higher on the exam in order to pass the class.
