- Be relatively unique, don't try to copy others and think you'll get famous. Put your own spin on things.
I think the first one kinda contradicts with
- Avoid using jump cuts as much as possible. (Ignore if you're doing YTPs)
I think people should be free to present their videos the way they want because as you said it's their own spin on things. I don't really know any other way to edit out some hoopla that you don't want to have in iunna, let'splays because I find that smooth transitions such as fade ins and outs are odd. But that's my opinion.
I definitely agree with being unique though. So many people (hopefully I'm not being a hypocrite here) try to emulate someone they like, sometimes for popularity as a copycat and such but I find it to be more often that not that people think it's very easy to do let's plays. It's very difficult to be entertaining, focus on playing, and consistently talk for a long time on a game, along with some people having to edit their own videos, and that's where many of the emulators fall flat because they're unaware of it. I think also however some emulators begin as such, but then find their own way of presenting videos, but it's still definitely better to just be yourself and find that one niche that will blossom on the battlefield.
- Either don't edit your videos or edit them decently.
To me it says "Edit, or don't edit at all" which confuses me as a rule, I don't really see an in between there. I mean yeah, don't edit poorly, I think that's a given, but I'd rather say something like "If you are well versed in editing, you should obviously apply that knowledge. If you can't afford special programs try to at least learn to use the ones you have to your advantage". Maybe I'm just overthinking it and being a poopydoopy!
