Author Topic: Why do people commit Self Delete?  (Read 16647 times)

it makes me cringe when people say they self-diagnose themselves for anything.

people can be depressed and not have depression. you only have depression disorder when it's a chronic issue. thing is, he seems to have this mentality that you can just change your emotions back and not wallow.

depressed =/= sad

depression = depression

Ok yeah you're definitely trolling
I think its more that he takes the edgiest perspective on every subject, and then is able to seem to defend his argument to a degree. The best trolls insult you with a hint of truth to really make it really hurt.

His only solution was to dope them up lol.

Just think for a second. Any person that has ever used an anti depressant med.
Still depressed, yet still on meds for life.
The entire thing is a sham. There are no examples of success.
You make a good point, but depression medications have made a major difference for some people. Sure, there's a chance they're edgy teens looking for sympathy, you're right about that. But there's also a medical disorder that can be solved with pills, and I've personally seen it happen.

I completely agree with this, i've seen it too many times in my lifetime.
They don't work, and when they do work they don't last for long.

Everything else said was /kinda/ /sorta/ unnecessary to some extent, although that can be the case for some people, so he isn't completely wrong guys, don't all hop into the bandwagon without thinking about it for a few minutes.

and for forget sakes be calm.

explain further

depression = sad, anger, hate, worthlessness, emptiness. depression is just a word to describe all these emotions happening at once.

sad, anger, hate, worthlessness, emptiness.

everything you mentioned are side effects of depression.

everything you mentioned are side effects of depression.

then what's the main affect of depression if those are the side affects? and don't you say depression because there has to be emotions to classify it.

I completely agree with this, i've seen it too many times in my lifetime.
They don't work, and when they do work they don't last for long.
Different meds work for different people.  There isn't some catch-all super med for any disease.

it makes me cringe when people say they self-diagnose themselves for anything.
i self diagnosed myself with autism

What seems to be common in this argument is that people fail to see that there are many other things a person can try, such as change in lifestyle, meds, therapy or even intense rehab before they need to go to the extent of having to kill themselves to relieve the pain. In this case a person would rarely ever be left with it as an only option.

From what I hear, suicidal thoughts come and go very quickly. You feel suicidal one day then the next you feel a bit better and don't consider it any more. If someone commits Self Delete they won't be around to know if they regret the decision and would miss out on all the opportunities life provides. Like I said above it very rarely has to be considered an option.

Taking one's life is not a form of therapy, it would be better described as an anti-therapy. It doesn't fix a problem, it stops you from feeling it, along with life as a whole.

Yes, doing those things will help you recover. But when you're depressed you don't want to get out of bed in the morning. That upbeat music you enjoyed, those videogames that put a stupid smile on your face don't even affect you anymore. Nothing makes you happy. You don't want to do anything. You just sit around feeling terrible all the time. Depression sucks and you end up not being able to do anything productive that can solve your depression. If it was as easy as "go outside, diet, do fun things to cheer yourself up!!!" then this wouldn't be a problem, would it? When you're seriously depressed you end up with suicidal thoughts all the time. You want attention, you want friends, you want to be happy. But depression holds you back from everything you've been wanting to do. Most of the time you can't just change your lifestyle or get on meds, or even see a therapist. You don't even want to go outside anymore.

Thats like your 4th try on that. Did it counter my points with a valid reply yet?
Or were you actully hoping a bandwagen effect can just debate for you.

Flail your tantrum arms in disagreement some more
and my point still stands doesn't it, you're just a wall lmao

bisjac may be like 25 or whatever but holy christ is he one of the most ignorant people i have ever come across.

yes i know I said to ignore him pages ago so dont even mention it

i feel like bisjac is just only saying this because he doesn't care about the well-being of others. fair enough, I don't either, unless they are close to me.

but when you're spewing ignorant bullstuff purposefully just to be an ass, ESPECIALLY on a sensitive topic like Self Delete, it's where you draw the line. I genuinely feel bad for people who take the Self Delete route, but i wish that they would have found a better solution.

But here's the thing people like bisjac and refticus don't understand, people who commit Self Delete think that it IS the best solution. Depression is an actual disorder and it's essentially terminal sadness. It completely messes with their ability to reason with what life gives them and to overcome.

And that "just because it's mean doesn't make it wrong" attitude that you have, bisjac. Sorry to tell you, but, you're wrong

then what's the main affect of depression if those are the side affects? and don't you say depression because there has to be emotions to classify it.
depression is a mental illness. it's defined by its effects, which are not exclusively emotional.

Well you see, it takes a while to find the right medication. Some just plain don't work, some make it worse. But when you find the right one, it never gets rid of it entirely, it just helps. Although, this is my personal experience with anti-depressant medication. When I found the right medication, I saw immediate results. I was smiling, I began to work again, It was like my gears were finally moving. But depression doesn't leave easily, you just have to bear it until it eventually dissipates. Or sometimes, it never actually goes away, it's a shadow you have to bear on your back.
