Author Topic: Server-wide music that plays ANYWHERE?  (Read 2501 times)

DataProxy wins, he provided a link to THIS! It's the cool server-wide music thing that Rose The Floran's Deathrun uses and I'll be using this. Eventually. in a few weeks when I get around to recompiling the gamemode for my server I'm lazy as heck
If you spawn above a certain height you don't hear music with the server-wide music mod I have.
I'm hosting a server with no ground and everything's at 10000 bricks up. Server music doesn't work. Help?

Can you link the mod you're currently using?

Zapk's music addon
There's at least three threads for it, two by subpixel and one by RTB Mod Bot

maybe you can use a server-wide music mod that uses a music brick, i'm pretty sure those have unlimited range (but no /commands)

didn't that one have a backdoor or something
Yeah someone modified HCZ/Adam's admin event support code to include eval in it. But Badspot CRC'd the backdoor version of that support file, which would mean SuperSuit must be using a safe version.

And yeah, the problem with this add-on is that the music is being played by an object created at 0 0 0, and only has a max distance of 9001 for god knows what reason.

SuperSuit, if you could upload the copy of the add-on that you have, that would be great.

This one just needs a tiny value change somewhere in the middle of a function.

haaaha

I had it at 1000 and it wasn't playing until a little ways under that. Unless I did my math wrong... Are ranges different vertically?

Odd. Whether you're 1000 tu or 1000 bricks (600 tu) up in the air, you should be able to hear it.
Unless you mean 64x cubes or something.
Maybe the music doesn't play until you've ghosted the audio object. (ghosting isn't limited to just bricks)
Which would be highly unfortunate. Either way, pass me over the copy of the add-on that you're using and I should be able to fix both possible issues.

Visolator made something like this to be a bit better than Zapk's old mod.
It can be found here, and includes instructions on how to use.

If you're looking for something more Client-based, I recommend using Chrono's old System_2DMusic.

System_2DMusic isn't what's good in this situation, but for anyone that has it already...

I recommend redownloading it here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/k7ili6iyepno3th/System_2DMusic.zip?dl=0

This updates the download link in the message it sends to players who do not have it. The one on orbs and swololol will link clients to the dead RTB page.

DataProxy that's what Rose the Floran's Deathrun uses, isn't it? I think I'll use that.

I might make an update to it to scope the music brick to all clients that have spawned at least once. This might actually solve the problem that others have been having that don't hear the music.

Oh hi that was unexpected.
Yeah I'm gonna use that one, locking because it's solved
