The Funkyshirt is an add-on released around V8 that, in V8, worked. In V9 and above, it did not work and crashes servers due to requests to update the player's object, plus a whole bunch of other possible complications.
It's a bad idea.

It doesn't crash servers, it's just that it transmitted a large amount of data constantly, therefore slowing down servers.

In some recent version Badspot made it so that your avatar can be updated only once per second, therefore making funky shirt look extremely stupid. People still use it though.
