Once the Hunger bar is empty when it says Hungry (%) it will turn into Very Hungry (%).
And even then you won't starve.

go up to the bear it wont kill you unless you attack it you will have an option to pick ticks off of it do that and eat the ticks

Kobe if I were you I wouldn't work on a house just yet, look around for rabbits or go fishing, and if you really don't have anything like a plow or cart you may as well keep moving and loot unclaimed houses.
