exactly. this game is full of options for diplomacy and realistic wars and economy. its not just some stuffty survival RPG.

me and cookie started out playing the simple way. but as you get more power, and bigger village, and higher quality items, and the responsibility of protecting it all.
you have to raise the bar and be aggressive.

if you dont understand that, or are in denial that it could ever be necessary. then you arent advanced into the game yet. its inevitable if your village becomes successful.
