Edit: I have a character which was the best one out of all the ones I had.
And guess what? I got raped by a bear and died.
So what'd I do? I restart.e

But they know my town location. And I lost all my skills then... and I don't have extra material.

he was surrounded by a bunch of stuffty settlements, and he was within the radius of several mines, so he had a 50% decreased chance of ever getting his own.
