the new version military is terrible at the moment.
you have to set uniforms and stuff and half the time they won't actually wear them and its totally broken.

Like i wasent sure if i had to equipped it myself on them... or they just went and got it.. but i set the uniforms as Leather and none of them got any of it... i think they might of picked up a few pieces.. but they never wore all of it...

I understand DF is a complex game... but if they really want me to take 10 minutes equipping each dwarf... like come on! :/

Whats everyones setup...

i normally dig down about 5 levels(often with ramps, instead of stairs), then build a supply room, after that i build a room for workshops, then a room for sleeping, then a kitchen/dinning room, i tend to build a farm last and live of hunting and fishing for as long as possible... other than that what rooms are there to build that would actually be useful? my fortresses never turn out to be very impressive structures.

Yesterday I got a pre-pack of an old version, it came with a starter save in a decent location.

Dug down 3 layers and boom, over 100 units of Magnetite mined, still haven't gotten the rest mined out and a stuff ton of platinum :D

Finally got to the magma seas, -116 z levels c:
Smelting gold as fast as I can for trade caravans :D

Elven Caravans piss me off so much, they're prissy fussy friends that refuse to trade with you if you offer them items in a wooden bin.

Also, elves don't bring Wagons because they suck that badly so I can't even give them individual surplus armour, I'd be a rich friend by now if they did.

Also also, Elves don't even bring anything useful, they try to offload their stuff cloth and wooden crafts on me and won't accept my wooden items
