Look what I found in an old stack of CDs :D
Description:
SimAnt is a single player ant colony simulator released in 1991 by Maxis. You play as the black ants at war with the red ants, while overcoming obstacles like spiders, antlion traps, starvation, and the lawnmower. Eventually, if you're in a full game, you can take over the house since apparently the guy who lives there doesn't know how to hire an exterminator.
Gameplay:
There are three main modes of play; Full game, Quck game, and Experimental. In the full game, you battle the red ants across the yard and house while keeping your queens alive. In the quick game, it's similar to a skirmish mode in most RTS's. You can only fight in one patch of ground and the main goal is to kill the enemy's queen. Experimental is a god mode, where you have tools that can place pheromone trails, maze walls, rocks, ants, pesticides and food.
SimAnt is abandonware, so that means you can get it on the internet legally. I'm not sure if the CD version is sold anymore. If you find one,
BE SURE TO USE DOS BOX BECAUSE ODDS ARE YOU DON'T HAVE AN A:\ FLOPPY.Who else thinks this game is awesome?
