Is it supposed to not run better?  If there's the unused memory, windows uses it.  That's one good thing about new windows versions.

I have a problem with the third one, when loading the second race... 'Send in the sharks' I get some kind of directX error... :( on windows 7 by the way.

Does the same thing happen on other CD Games?
If not, try running it in compatibility mode for Windows 95/XP.
If so, you'll have to find out what's wrong with your CD-Rom drive.
