It's pretty cool, except for the fact that the earth seems to be rotating on the Y axis, but you'd expect it to be rotating over the Z axis based on the hand's position and influence.

That is true, the Earth looked weird rotating the other way though D:

It is a disembodied hand so I don't think it needs and elaborate walk cycle to get the point across. :P
