I have been considering joining Blockland. I see less noobs, more free building, and most of all, custom meshes and sounds in this game.
I'm likely to join anyway, but heres some of my questions.
1.Is C++ simular to HTML style sheets? I know the later language.
2.Is making vehicles and weapons difficult? If I know what I just listed?
3.I see being able to build with 100,00 bricks (more that I think I want suprisingly). How do vehicles, weapons, explosions, and excess game scripts effect the recomended amount?
4.Will I get crap from low ID people for having a high ID?
5.Are large scale vehicles (battleships, bombers) possible, as well as being able to walk on them?
6.Is custom character content easy to make?
7.I thought I had more to ask...
1. Blockland uses TorqueScript which I've heard is similar to JavaScript but I may be wrong.
2. Depends how good you are a scripting/modelling vehicles and weapons.
3. If you are running many add ons (that's what we call it) it probably won't affect it but will affect the load time to join another server because you need to download the weapons they have. It will also affect the startup of your server since Blockland has to run through all of the add ons.
4. ID discriminators are idiots. Avoid them. From what I see here (good grammar, spelling, punctuation) you probably won't.
5.Yes, but depending. If it's too big it can crash the game. Bomb scripts are possible. Walking on vehicles is a little tougher here. We do have ONE vehicle (an aircraft carrier) that has a special script built in that lets you decide if you mount it on touch or not. This can only be done while it is still so it will not be possible with a flying vehicle unless some serious changes are done in the next update.
6.
Well that depends if you can make joints and animate models. Didn't read the whole topic. As someone said before we do not use "gear." We have a list of add ons that we can spawn in-game from a brick if that server has that add-on. Faces and decals are simple images hopefully with transparency that are very simple to make.
