Fallout 3 crashes on new game

I just installed it and I hit new game. When the baby is first born and he starts to cry, the game crashes. I searched on google but I could not find anything useful. I installed it using steam. Does anyone know what I cna do to fix this?

Right then, serious time, did you buy it from a secondhand shop or is it preowned or something, if its preowned that might be your problem, did you buy it on steam or install it via steam

It just crashes to the desktop. No error message except the "This program stopped responding" one.

Download a save from somewhere and see if it's just the start that's crashing the game.

The save worked, thanks. I deleted the items too so I can actually play the game like I would if the startup worked.

It's the default desktop theme.

Change it to something less prettier, then it'll work.

I just restarted it and I walked into megaton and after about 7 steps I crashed. I can't find a solution and judging by google searches, many others have these problems.
