Is the spy underpowered?

Yes.
No.

Author Topic: TF2 - Spy Petition  (Read 10304 times)

As some of you may know, Spy is the stealth class on TF2, it takes a lot of skill to pick him up and work with it. But the odds are, unless you play as Spy exclusively, you won't be able to kill anyone. This is all because that while the Spy did get an update, all the other class updates left him behind, and with the Engineer update coming up, I'm worried about how the common Spy will do in battles.

- The typical Spy is easy to spot when disguised nowadays.

- A Spy's health is low in general.

- While the switchblade serves a great purpose from behind, it's nearly useless from the front.

- Spies are always considered to be top-priority when it comes to a target.

- A Spy without the proper training will not do well in a fight where he is not disguised or cloaked.

- All of the different cloaking devices are far too loud and don't serve the STEALTH purpose very well.

- Pyros, I need not say anything about them.

- The cloaked taunt just got taken away. It made using the Spy a little better.

Head to Head combat:

Spy vs. Scout:

The scout is quick and uses many different maneuvers to avoid being killed, he is also a superior close-range fighter. The Scout has a better chance of winning.

Spy vs. Soldier:

Soldier has rockets, Spy  has a knife and a revolver, I think it's obvious who would win this one.

Spy vs. Pyro:

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUU UUUUUUUUUUU-

Spy vs. Demo:

Due to recent updates to the demo, almost every demo you see carries around the Eyelander and a Charge-n-Targe. A Spy, with some practice, could easily backstab a charging Demo, but most demos will not hesitate to just blow you up.

Spy vs. Engineer:

Wrench to face, dead in like two hits. Engi would win in a non stealth up close battle.

Spy vs. Heavy:

The Heavy is slow moving and can be an easy target for spies, but when you miss, you're dead, no question about it.

Spy vs. Sniper:

Snipers usually leave their backs unguarded, however, if a spy is spotted by a sniper, the sniper could easily give a few quick hits with the Kukri and not worry about spies again.

Spy vs. Medic:

Medics, you'd think they'd be an easy target, right? Wrong. While it is easy to kill the unsuspecting medic, one that does spot you can be bad, VERY BAD. Medics nowadays usually equip themselves with the Blutsauger and the Ubersaw. Both of these weapons will kill you in seconds. Furthermore, most Medics aren't going to wander around alone, they usually have at least one person with them, so if you're spotted not only will a medic chase you, but so will whoever he was healing. If a Medic sees you, you should most likely run.

Spy vs. Spy:

Knife fights, they happen.

It's obvious that the Spy is severely underpowered, I urge you to suggest other facts about the Spy, and how it shows that he is underpowered.

Also, why is underpowered a word in Mozilla Firefox? :O

You can still cloak taunt. Cloak right when you taunt.

Cry some more baby

1. I saw that ninja

2. Good job making a pointless post just to make a few people think that you're funny. Your superiority is merely an illusion, go forget yourself.

You can still cloak taunt. Cloak right when you taunt.

It automatically uncloaks you in most cases.

The spy is suppose to be a skilled fighter, so if you don't got skill, you don't have the will (to play as a good spy)

1. I saw that ninja

Do you think I care?

actually go forget yourself for sucking at such a easy class

Every other class requires little to no skill, by which what I mean is that you can just choose any class and do lukewarm when it comes to killing and such. This applies to everyone except for the Spy, the Spy requires you to be very good at what you do, because if you aren't, you'll be left on the ground. Furthermore, I have the sneaking suspicion that you didn't read the whole topic.

Not really a petition. You didn't have us sign to have any thing done.

Well, I don't think you care after you said something like that. And if you don't care, you really shouldn't post.

Also, I do not suck at Spy, on the contrary he is my favorite class, all of the observations I have made in the OP were that of other people plus my opinion. I want other people to be able to play as Spy also, not just the people who are good enough to do so.

I assumed that it was obvious enough, but alright, the petition is for Valve to stop keeping the Spy underpowered, let's balance this game out.

Most people aren't going to start out with skilled spy capabilities. You have tom play a little and be really bad before you can get any skill.

Gotta play with skeels br0
I primarily play pyro, but I still kick ass with spy. :v

dumbest topic ever

Really loving mature, and you're the one calling me a baby?

I agree to this
I also think that the cloak charge should last longer
(i use the cloak that only has power decay if you move) its just way to sensitive

naw because then there'd really be no reason to use the old watch.

I kind of wish for TF2 to go new weapon-less.
